Review: Safety Tot Lock Magnet Set

Description: This magnetic locking system is guaranteed to keep small fingers from being open doors. It fits doors from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch in thickness. It comes with four in the pack along with mounting instructions. The key, which is sold separately, will unlock the magnet for easy access. There is also a lever that will disengage the lock.

Review: Little minds and fingers love to investigate. Trying to find a product that will work to keep little ones out of places where they can be hurt is a trying adventure for a parent. This magnet set can help.

There are no outside levers where children can grab onto and find their way in. Because of this there is no chance for pinched fingers either. Without the key they can’t get in. Plus they can be concealed from view when put in place.

They work with a magnet. This takes a key that when held on the outside where the lock is placed allows the drawer or cabinet to be opened. It also includes a lever that will totally disengage the lock. This leaves your doors with regular access just like before the locks were installed.

Keeping our little ones safe and away from those things they don’t know about is important. Finding the right way to do that is also important. These magnets may be just what you need. They also come with a guarantee in case you do have a problem with them for any reason.

Criticism: This set comes with a key that must be used to open the cabinet. This key is sold separately. It also comes with just one so if you have a tendency to misplace things you may want to buy a couple of them. I also wasn’t real thrilled with the mounting instructions. You can figure it out but it is a little time consuming and somewhat frustrating.

Review: Slim & Fit Kids - Raising Healthy Children in a Fast-Food World

Description: This book, written by a nutritionist and a pediatrician, covers child obesity, diseases and disorders, nutritional guidelines for different age groups and how parents can put all this in place for a healthy child.

Review: Child obesity has become a major concern all over the world. Although I am thanking my lucky stars I have not had to deal with this problem, I do have a friend who is fighting this with her child though and I wanted to try and help her. When I saw this book and that it was written by two professionals in the field I decided to buy it for her. She has thanked me every day since.

I have read over some of this book. It is well written and leaves nothing to wonder. From how child obesity can cause disease and disorders in a child that can last the rest of their lives to how to handle an obese child, this book really does cover it all.

The chapters in this book break down all the problems of childhood obesity. From an overview to how parents can put these ideas in place, you won’t miss anything. There is even a section on how parents can find a routine for their child and then put it in place and make it stick.

It breaks down children in age groups. I thought this was pretty important because what may work for my friend whose child is a teenager won’t work for someone who has a 4 year old. It also helped in explaining how depression and obesity go together especially in teenagers. This brought to light for my friend why her child was so withdrawn and how food played a part in that.

This book has helped my friend and her family. They have found a common ground and it seems to be working for them. Whether it’s your child or someone else’s child that is going through child obesity I think this book will help. It’s straight forward, easy to comprehend and gives you a lot of insight into the whys of child obesity. When it comes to the children of world we need to be educated and ready for anything. This book will definitely give you that in one of the most important aspects of a child’s life - their health.

Review: Ready or Not Here We Come! The Real Experts’ Guide to the First Year With Twins

Description: This book is written by a mother of twins. By sharing her experiences, her ups and downs and her ways of making it through in a slightly comical format you come away with a feel good attitude that’s hard to find when you are a parent of multiples.

Review: This book is filled with advice from someone who has actually been there. It’s short, to the point and a little comical in some areas. The best part is the advice that is laid out. It’s not easy to even think when you have 1 baby to take care but when you have 2 or more it’s almost impossible. Having a book that can give you some advice that works is something special.

It’s a short book but an informative book. It’s hard to find the time to do anything especially read when you have babies in the house. This book is kept short and easy to maneuver through so catching a few of the ideas while feeding the babies isn’t hard to accomplish.

I also like the don’t sweat the small stuff approach in this book. It’s also very obvious this book is honest, blunt, a little sarcastic and quite funny at times. It proves that we all love our children but that coming to the end of our ropes is reality.

Ready or Not Here We Come! The Real Experts’ Guide to the First Year With Twins also provides you with some no nonsense tips on how to get your babies on a schedule that will work for both of them. It gives advice on how to handle two hungry, wet and sleepy babies at the same time and still keep your sanity. There are also some websites mentioned in the book that can be very helpful.

This is not a you MUST do this type of book. It’s a book that will help you to realize that there are other people out there living through twins and that there are ways to handle the everyday life of twins. With a good sense of humor and a little encouragement this book will get you through it and keep you somewhat sane.
